Anthony Bale, Professor of Medieval and Renaissance English and Professorial Fellow at Girton College, has been elected as a Fellow of the British Academy.
Professor Bale is one of 92 new Fellows from universities around the world to be elected to the British Academy’s Fellowship.
The British Academy is the UK’s national academy for the humanities and social sciences. Election to its Fellowship is a prestigious honour that recognises outstanding scholarly achievement.
Professor Bale is internationally recognised for his work on medieval literature, pilgrimage, and cultural history. His recent book, A Travel Guide to the Middle Ages, received critical acclaim for its accessible and imaginative exploration of medieval travel, offering readers a vivid and unforgettable insight into how medieval people understood their world. He is also working on a forthcoming title, The First Witch.
